GENE KOMONDOR

Gene Komondor is the Emergency Management Coordinator for North Huntingdon Township in Westmoreland County, PA and co-chairs the Safe Schools Committee for the Norwin School District (5,700 students). He is a partner in a company that provides emergency management-related services including plan reviews, site assessments, training and exercises to schools, healthcare facilities and private sector companies. Mr. Komondor has been designated as a Subject Matter Expert for the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Healthy Students, Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) Technical Assistance Center.

He was a member of the project team that provided safety training services to schools throughout Pennsylvania through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education and worked on a similar statewide project in West Virginia. He has served as a consultant to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); the District of Columbia Department of Health; the Florida Division of Emergency Management, and has spoken at training and education conferences throughout the country. Mr. Komondor is an Adjunct Instructor in the Emergency Medicine program at the University of Pittsburgh and in the Emergency Services program at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA; and has served as an Instructor at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, MD.

He holds an MS in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Vincent College; BS in Public Administration and BS in Human Resources Management from Point Park University in Pittsburgh; and has also completed Executive Education training at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
